The Dress
My Dream Dress
It only took 2 weeks, but I found the perfect dress for me...after a little bit of drama. My first shop was David's Bridal. I had printed off a handful of dresses that I loved from all different styles but deep down I knew I wanted lace. Dress after dress, I wasn't wowed. Finally, my future sister-in-law pointed out a dress that I had picked out that we all knew I would love. Cue the drama - The dress had been discontinued and the only sample was way too small for me. Just to see the idea of the dress, my mom suggested I "ghetto-rig" it on. I slipped into a simple a-line with no embellishments and readied for the hilarity to ensue. We unzipped the lace dress and wrapped the bodice around me as far as we could, securing it with clips. We added a clover sash (my accent color) to help hold it up - and voila - Frankendress! Even as ridiculous as it all was, the tears flowed. I asked my consultant to check where the closest sample in my size range would be - more bad luck - all the way in San Antonio. A bit defeated we left and headed to Alfred Angelo. I tried on a couple there, including a beautiful lace slim a-line... but it didn't bring the tears. I gave up for the day and took a break until the next weekend. After not finding anything at Lulu's that I was even interested in, I convinced my mom and friend Gwen to head back to David's. We recreated the frankendress to the amusement of the alterations lady who had seen us the weekend before, added a veil and headpiece - and bam! Tears from myself and Gwen all over again. I decided I was done and bought the dress.
I am changing it a bit though:
I am changing it a bit though:
- The back will be changed from zip up to lace up
- The green sash above will not be tied on. It will be a simple flat panel across the front that is sewn on at the edge of the corset - no bows for me! :)
- I will have the full-length chapel train rather than the no train pictured.
The Hair and Veil Inspirations
My veil will be hand-crafted by my incredible godmother Janet Doyle. It will be made from high quality silk illusion fabric. We haven't decided the final length, but expect it to be at least extended chapel length. The trim will mimic the lace of my dress and include pearl beading. The comb will be beaded with pearls and "bling".
I have decided between one of two styles for my hair, both of which will require extensions. First, I love the classic look of the low-placed chignon. It seems timeless to me. That being said, after I saw fellow knottie StephieHall's hair for her wedding, I was in love with the half up, half down style.

Makeup inspirations
I have known since a young age that my eyes were my most prominent feature. I have worn my trademark black liquid liner and mascara for nearly 15 years. On my wedding day, I want it to be no different. I will have airbrush makeup, soft cheeks and lips, but bold smoky eyes. It just screams "Kendall"
Shoes
From day 1, I knew I wanted green shoes to go with my dress. These give me the support around my heels and toes to keep me from falling over, while maintaining a bit of playful sexiness. Plus that heel will only make my short 5'4" frame look longer! Plus side: they are the same color as my clover green sash!
