Handmade Shaped Crayons
I loved the idea of making my own crayons for the children at the wedding. We will be wrapping them in clear bags with tags and ribbons.
Materials:
- Silicon Molds - $1 section at Target (cars) and $1.85 after coupon at Michael's
- Crayons - 64 count for $1 at Michael's after coupon
Total: Under $4 pre-wrapping.
Step One
Peel the crayons and place aside. Throw away all wrappers
Step Two
Break the crayons into 4 pieces and place into color groups. I chose "Fire colors", Pinks & Purples, blues, teals and greens, & neutrals. Put between 15-20 pieces per mold section depending on how thick you want your crayons
Step Three
Bake on a cookie sheet in the oven for 15-18 minutes at 250 degrees. Be sure to keep an eye on the wax as burning wax leaves an awful smell.
Step Four
Be very careful to keep tray level as you remove the crayons. Allow to cool for 20 minutes or until the crayons have completely cooled and hardened. If you remove them too early, your crayons will warp and/or crack.
Labels for the Crayon Bags
I designed these labels to be printed via Vistaprint to attach to the clear bags the crayons will be placed in.
